BIO

Lisa Davenport Ph.D., RN, CEN, is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (1990), Master of Science in Nursing (2007) with a concentration in Homeland Security Nursing/ Global Disaster Nursing, and a Ph.D. in Nursing (2013) at the University of Tennessee. Her dissertation was completed using grounded theory methodology to examine Iraqi refugee resettlement to the U.S. She now has 34 years of professional experience holding national certification in emergency nursing. Most recently, she has served in the role of Project Director for the federally funded Appalachia Community Health and Disaster Readiness Project (HRSA UD7HP26205), which is an inter-professional collaborative practice (IPCP) effort to identify, evaluate, and address the health, safety, and disaster readiness needs of rural Appalachian communities in southeastern Kentucky. Guided by her leadership, a multi-sectoral partnership of professionals from the disciplines of nursing, architecture, engineering, and law enforcement innovation associated with the University of Tennessee received national recognition by W.K. Kellogg Foundation (2016) for exemplary community engagement to address priority needs of clean water access and sanitation. Her research interests include community-based participatory research, emergency/disaster management, community health, practice in low resource settings, water quality, and accessibility, and the health impacts of displacement, migration, and resettlement.
